Former boss Brendan Rodgers bags his first major award as Celtic boss

Brendan Rodgers has been named as the Scottish Manager of the Month for August (via BBC).

Our former bosses new role got started in terrible circumstances back in July when they were beaten by Gibraltar’s part-timers, Lincoln Red Imps. Since then, however, things have improved quickly. They have qualified for the Champions League group stage for the first time in three years, and have beaten Hearts, St Johnstone, and Aberdeen to record a perfect start to the new SPL season.

Rodgers will take his side into his first Old Firm derby this weekend – it is the first league meeting between the two Scottish giants since 2012.

Rangers are currently second in the table, one point behind Rodgers’ side but having played a game more. Rangers won the last game between the two sides as they triumphed 5-4 on penalties in the League Cup final last season.

If you’re interested, the derby kicks off at noon on Sunday.
