Liverpool dealt hammer blow as Klopp rules midfield star out of Leicester game

Posted by

Jurgen Klopp has confirmed we will be without Emre Can for the visit of Leicester City this weekend.

It’s a bitter blow for the boss and the fans — there is no denying we look a much more formidable force when he is playing in the centre of the park.

According to the Echo, Can is almost ready to return to full training after he injured his ankle against Burton Albion in the League Cup last month – but he will not be considered this weekend.

Worryingly, we have only seen Can once in the league so far this season when he came on as a late sub against Arsenal on the opening day of the new campaign.

Klopp said he thinks the midfielder will be back in training tomorrow – so hopefully he should be ready to play when we go to Chelsea next weekend.

“It’s much better but Emre didn’t have a perfect pre-season. Now he’s had another two-and-a-half weeks out,” said the boss.

“He should be back in team training today or on Friday but he won’t be ready for Leicester.”
