Two encouraging stats stand out above all others after the Leicester game

For us here at Empire of the Kop, there were two encouraging stats that stood out above all others after our 4-1 win over Leicester City.

Quite simply, the number of shots we had on target and our shot accuracy.

According to Opta (cited on Echo), we had 17 efforts on goal, with 11 of them on target.  If you do not include the blocked shots, we had a shot accuracy of 84.6 percent.

Compare those figures with the Burnley game. On that fateful afternoon, we had 26 shots but only five on target, along with a shot accuracy of 66.7 percent (via official site).

It’s a huge improvement in just three games, and shows how much Klopp must have been working with the lads on the training ground (though, we admit, not having Coutinho send ten shots over the bar probably helped too!).

If we can replicate the figures from the Leicester game throughout most of the season, we will undoubtedly be in for a successful campaign that’s full of goals.
