There is probably a case to suggest Adam Lallana has been our most impressive player at the start of this season.
Yes, Coutinho has scored wonder goals, yes Firmino has been magic, and yes, Sadio Mane has impressed everyone — but Lallana’s ball skills, work ethic, and eye for a pass have clearly endeared him to the boss.
He is also developing an eye for a goal – that thumping hit against Leicester was his second goal of the season – he only scored four in the whole of last season. He also scored for England in their World Cup qualifier.
And now, according to an article by Paul Joyce in the Express this evening, he is set to be rewarded with a new deal.
His current deal expires in 2019, but we want to tie him down for the long-term. Joyce writes that we will sit down with him before the end of the year.
