Ovie Ejaria quotes will give Klopp food for thought this season

Liverpool U23s beat Leicester U23s 4-0 at the weekend as we did a club double over the reigning champions.

One of the stars of the show was young midfielder Ovie Ejaria – he scored a goal after a wonderful diving header and played a huge role in Ben Woodburn’s strike.

It was his first start in a competitive game this season after he returned from the injury sustained against Chelsea in our pre-season tour of the United States.

“It was a bad time to get injured (in pre-season) but I kept working hard off the pitch in the gym and I’m glad to get back playing now. I’m 100% fit,” he said (Echo)

He went on to explain how beneficial he thinks the time spent at Melwood is for his own development.

“Training with first team players, top players, every day, is helping me improve my game so it’s really good.

Most interestingly, however, he seemed to suggest he had one clear goal for this season – getting some minutes in the first team.

“I want to keep getting games with the U23s and hopefully I can get a chance to get minutes with the first team if I keep doing well and keep impressing.”

Do you think he is ready for the first team? His next game is theoretically next Monday against Spurs for the U23s, but could we see him against Derby in the cup instead?
