Klopp delighted for Henderson after world-class goal

Jurgen Klopp has expressed his delight for club captain Jordan Henderson after the midfielder bent in a wonderful goal to put us 2-0 ahead in tonight’s Premier League game against Chelsea.

Playing in our first ever Friday night encounter, Dejan Lovren put us 1-0 ahead with a well-taken side-footed goal after 17 minutes, before Hendo’s stunner arrived ten minutes before the break. The goal was his first since January.

“It was nice, really nice. He’s such a hard worker, it was well deserved,” said Klopp.

“He’s such a nice lad. There’s a lot of pressure on his shoulders.” (BBC)

Even without the wonder-goal, it was a top class performance from the England international. After struggling with injury for large parts of last season he has increasingly started looking like himself this season – with today being the best he has been so far.

Hendo admitted he had struggled to deal with the burden of the captaincy at times last season, but tonight he looked every bit the player we know he can be. He is proving the critics wrong once again.

Well done, Jordan.
