Klopp dismisses title challengers label despite stunning Chelsea win

Posted by

Jurgen Klopp is not ready to call his team title challengers, despite taking seven points from trips to Spurs, Chelsea, and Arsenal.

Throw in a home win against the reigning Premier League champions Leicester City, and the only blotch at the start of the season has been the loss to Burnley.

We are now on ten points and only two behind leaders Man City. City host Bournemouth on Saturday afternoon.

We play four of our next six games at Anfield as the fixture list finally starts to move in our favour. Three of those games are all eminently winnable (vs Hull, West Brom, and Watford). The other game is against rivals Man Utd on Monday 17th Oct.

We are certainly looking like serious top four contenders, but is the title talk a step too far?

Klopp certainly thinks so:

“I’m really not interested,” he said. “Someone asked me that when we won 3-1 last season against Chelsea. My answer was: ‘Are you crazy?’ I remember it. I learned a little bit about English (media).

“We have 10 points. That’s fantastic. I’m really happy after these difficult fixtures. We know we can play good football, we’re convinced about our quality. We just have to do it every week, every three days.” (Independent)
