Jamie Carragher refuses to rule out Liverpool title bid

Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher has refused to rule out a title bid from Liverpool this season.

He made the assertion when he called TalkSport to lambast Jason Cundy for his biased coverage in the aftermath of Chelsea vs Liverpool.

After the initial tensions had eased, Cundy asked Carra whether or not he thought Liverpool could win the league this season.

Carra certainly didn’t suggest we would win it, but he said there was certainly a possibility, especially given our lack of European football.

“Listen, you can ask me if you think Liverpool are going to win the league, I’d probably say no,” he said.

“But if you look back at the year they went for the title under Brendan Rodgers it was a similar situation. Everybody thought they’d be going for the top four and that season they had no Europe. I think that is going to have a massive impact.

“I think the way Liverpool play, high intensity, we’ve all questioned if they can do in England for a full season. But you have a much better chance with no Europe.

“I think they have got a great chance of finishing in the top four, but who knows? Especially with that extra rest the players have.” (cited on Echo)

Is Carra right? Could we win the league?

If you had asked us a month ago after our loss to Burnley would have all said no – but fantastic performances against Spurs, Leicester, and Chelsea have given the fanbase a new-found confidence.

With European football getting started last week, there is going to be more injuries, more tiredness, and more problems for the clubs involved.
