Liverpool legend Robbie Fowler thinks it’s “daft” to say we cannot compete for the title this season.
We’ve had a great start to the season, beating Chelsea and Arsenal away, getting a draw away at Spurs, and thumping the reigning champions 4-1 at home.
“It’s impressive, and you would be daft to say Liverpool can’t challenge the top clubs this year, especially because they don’t have the distraction of Europe,” he said (Mirror)
“The key for Liverpool is consistency. They’ve got a real collection of talent going forward, players you love to watch, but can they produce it against the teams who’ll dog it out against them? Can they reproduce it every week? On the evidence of Burnley, that is a pertinent question.”
Fowler said it was the game against Chelsea that convinced him that a title bid could be possible. We won 2-1 after a splendid first-half performance and a resolute second-half showing.
“They were so intense in the first half it was frightening.
“And because it’s almost impossible to maintain that level, they produced a composed display of possession football in the second.. after their little wobble anyway.
“I loved the way Jordan Henderson, Georginio Wijnaldum – who had his best game so far – and Adam Lallana combined in midfield.”
What do you think? Can we win the league? Let us know.
