Klopp delighted with fight to be Liverpool’s number one keeper

Simon Mignolet or Loris Karius. Who is the best keeper? Who should be our number one?

Mignolet has been in decent form so far in the league, even though he’s failed to keep a clean sheet – in fact, his only clean sheet of the season came in the League Cup against Burton Albion.

Loris Karius has played once and kept one clean sheet – also in the League Cup during last weeks’ third-round win over Derby County.

So who will start this weekend against Hull City at Anfield? We don’t know, but Klopp probably does.

Either way, he says we’ll benefit from the ensuing battle to claim the number one shirt.

“We decided to have two really strong goalkeepers and now we have the situation as they both are fit,” he said.

“In the end it’s 100% positive. Liverpool FC will have a very strong goalkeeper on Saturday between the posts.”

Who would you start? Did Karius do enough against Derby to convince you that he’s a) ready and b) fully recovered from his injury? Should Mignolet keep the gloves for now to ensure continuity? Let us know in the comments.
