What happened when Allan made full debut v Bayern Munich last night: The good & the bad

Talk about a baptism of fire…

Allan Rodrigues de Souza, our young Brazilian who’s spending the year in Germany in order to get a work permit, made his full debut for Hertha Berlin last night – against Bayern Munich in the top of the table Bundesliga clash.

Both clubs had won three matches from three, so the decision to start the 20-year-old was a big one from manager Pal Dardai.

Allan played at the base of Hertha’s midfield as a deep-lying playmaker. Not only did he break up Bayern’s possession on occasion, but he spread the play with his wicked left-foot – sometimes playing more offensive passes forward.

Sadly, when everything was going swimmingly from a personal point of view, he had a nightmare by dallying in the box and giving away the ball for Thiago to score.

Bayern ran out 3-0 winners, but at the Allianz Arena, this is nothing to be ashamed about. Bar his mistake, this was a promising debut – and he actually won’t get any more difficult tests the entire season.
