Liverpool defender outlines goal-scoring hopes for the season

Dejan Lovren has said he hopes to see more goals from our defenders this season.

The Serbian scored his first league goal in a red shirt against Chelsea last Friday, underlining the diversity in our attacking threat.

“It was the right place, right moment,” he said (Echo).

“Hopefully we will have a couple more defenders scoring this year.”

We have already nabbed 19 goals in just seven games so far this season – with 10 different players getting on the scoresheet.

We are also the league’s top scorers since January 1st, underlining how much Klopp has managed to revolutionise the side since the end of Rodgers’ reign. In the 2014-15 season, we only scored 52 goals all campaign. We are already 20 percent of the way to matching that after just five games.

Lovren is almost certain to start against Hull. He was given the night off against Derby in midweek, but he and Joel Matip are rapidly forming a wonderful understanding in the heart of the back four.

Will we see a defender score tomorrow? Let us know!
