James Milner has had a fine career. He’s played for Leeds United when they were still good (!), Newcastle United when they were still good (!), Aston Villa when they were still good (!), and Manchester City.
Of course, the best of the bunch is City where he won a league title – but the others were all flying high when he was with them.
Despite all those quality sides he has been involved with, he thinks this Liverpool side’s teamwork is better than any team he has been involved in, or at least as good as them.
“I’ve been fortunate to play in a lot of good teams,” he said (official site).
“The thing this team has is a lot of quality but the team spirit and togetherness of how we play. I think we play as a team probably better than any team I’ve been involved in, or as good as any other team I’ve played in.
“With and without the ball, people knowing their jobs, and getting around the ball and winning the ball back as a team as well.”
He opinion is borne out by the facts. We are the top scorers in the league since January and look more together and united than any other side in the country right now.
Consider this: we only scored five goals in our first seven games in all competitions last season. So far this season, we have already bagged 19.
Everyone clearly knows their roles and they are playing for each other. The future is nothing but bright.
