Klopp hails “world class” performance after Reds dismantle Hull City

Posted by

We beat Hull City 5-1 on Saturday afternoon to move up to third place in the Premier League table.

Adam Lallana got the party started after 17 minutes, Milner doubled the lead from the spot on the half hour, and Mane made it 3-0 before the break.

After the interval Hull pulled a quick one back, but a Philippe Coutinho wonder goal restored the three goal lead and a second Milner penalty completed the rout.

City beat Swansea 3-1 which means we stay three points behind the league leaders. Spurs edged past Middlesborough 2-1, but our win means we’ve now got the same goal difference as them, even though we are a point behind.

Klopp was delighted with the win when he was speaking to BBC Sport after the match. He hailed our world-class pressing game, but bemoaned the fact we still have not kept a clean sheet.

“I think we should not worry about whether we should have scored more. It was a brilliant amazing first half in all aspects. It was a world-class performance in counter pressing. We didn’t give Hull the opportunity to create confidence. It was wonderful to watch. All in all, really good,” he said.

“I was little angry we conceded. It would be nice to have a clean sheet one time in the season!”

Next up is Swansea in South Wales next weekend.
