Jurgen Klopp shrugs off title talk in SkySports MNF interview

Jurgen Klopp has dismissed speculation over our title chances in an interview on SkySports’ Monday Night Football show.

Some sections of the media and the fanbase have started to wonder about whether or not we might be able to lift our first title in more than 25 years after a stunning start to the season.

We have enjoyed our best start to a campaign since 2008 and have bagged 24 goals in all competitions, smashing a 120-year-old club record in the process.

Bookmakers have now installed us as 5/1 second favourites behind Man City, but Klopp says their calculations perplex him:

“I don’t even understand those numbers. I have never had a bet in my life. Where I come from you keep your money together. You don’t do things like this.

“It’s better that we have an optimistic mood around. At this moment Liverpool feels good.”

He did, however, admit that this was probably the healthiest the league table had looked for us since he arrived at the club almost a year ago.

“It’s not the worst league table we’ve had since I have been here, maybe even the best,

“But the big problem is only six games played. Quite early stages. I am happy about this but there is a long way to go.

“Nobody was really happy with their position last season apart from Leicester. Everyone is striking back. There’s been a lot of change in terms of managers and players. A lot of quality.” (Echo)

We are currently fourth in the table, five behind leaders Man City but only one behind Spurs in second.

Where will we be at the end of the season? Let us know…
