Nathaniel Clyne hailed as best right-back in the country by local lad

Youth team player and local lad Trent Alexander-Arnold has claimed he is currently learning off the best right-back in the country as he continues to shadow senior team member Nathaniel Clyne.

The 17-year-old is widely considered to be one of the hottest prospects in the country. He has enjoyed a string of impressive performances in the youth sides and added another one last weekend when he scored a lovely goal against Sunderland on Sunday.

There are hopes that he will be the next Liverpool-born player to “make it”. There have been an absence of such stars in recent years.

And he thinks he has the perfect chance thanks to Clyne:

“I’m trying to watch him and learn how good he is because he’s probably the best right back in the league for me, defensively and going forward,” he said.

“He’s so consistent in everything he does. I want to still play the way I play but if I can learn things from him then I’ll try and do that every day.” (Echo)

He certainly look destined for the big time. He was made U18s captain at just 16 and has been playing at Melwood every day since Klopp’s arrival at the club last year.
