Summer signing speaks about “incredible” Anfield debut

Marko Grujic has been speaking about his Anfield debut.

The Serbian came off the bench to play the final 16 minutes of our win over Hull City at the weekend, following up what had been an impressive performance in his full debut in the League Cup third round win over Derby County in the Midlands just days earlier.

“Every player and the people in the stadium enjoyed the game,” he said (Echo)

“It was my first game at Anfield and the feeling was incredible.”

Grujic knows he faces a battle to win a regular spot in the starting eleven at this stage. He is behind Jordan Henderson, Emre Can, Gini Wijnaldum, Adam Lallana, and possibly even Lucas in the pecking order. It seems like it is a straight fight between him and Kevin Stewart to be the “young centre mid” on the bench.

“All of the players in my position, and other positions, are playing very well. We have had good results to start the season,” he said.

“We will be better from week to week. I will try to show my skills in training to get more minutes in the Premier League.”

When do you think he will be ready? He was so impressive in pre-season that we know he has the talent – it’s just a matter of getting a break in the team so he can prove it at the highest level.
