Goalscorer enthuses over vital importance of Swansea win

You know something special is happening because every league game feels like the most important of the season so far.

But there was something vital about beating Swansea. It made it six points from six in our mini-block of six sides against largely weaker sides, and kept everyone in positive spirits ahead of the next international break.

For a while it looked like we might not be able to do it. They had taken an early lead and looked much the better side for the first 30 minutes.

But when Firmino headed in after the break there was only ever going to be one winner. Their goal took a battering, but it still took us a while to break through, with Milner’s penalty five minutes before the end proving to be decisive.

“Beating Swansea was massive, especially going into the international break,” said Milner. (Echo)

“We’ve put a little run together. To sign off with a draw or a defeat would have halted our momentum.

“Hopefully everyone will come back fit and healthy after the internationals because we’ve got a big game against United.”

The first opponents after the international break are Man Utd at Anfield. They had a frustrating start to the season and after today’s 1-1 draw with Stoke find themselves down in sixth, three points below us.
