Henderson sheds light on how Klopp half-time teamtalk inspired the side

It was looking a bit miserable at half-time in South Wales on Saturday.

We were 1-0 down and had been outplayed for long periods of the game. Doubts were creeping in about whether this would be another Burnley.

It was Klopp’s task to rally the troops and coax a much better second half performance out of them.

And he did it brilliantly – Firmino headed us level not too long after the restart and the floodgates threatened to open. Milner eventually made sure of all three points with a late penalty.

Henderson has been speaking about that half-time teamtalk and has revealed what Klopp said to inspire the side.

“Obviously he had a few words to say because it wasn’t good enough, especially the first half an hour. The standards we’ve set, we just didn’t match them,” he said (official site)

“We came in at half-time and he [Klopp] had a few words to say, but credit to the lads we responded and the second half we played well.”

The result has moved us up to third in the league. Thanks to Spurs beating City on Sunday we are only two points behind the leaders and just one behind Spurs.

Next up is Man Utd at Anfield. They drew 1-1 with Stoke this weekend.
