Milner one of Liverpool’s most successful penalty takers in history, according to the stats

Posted by

James Milner has made penalty-taking duties his own since arriving at the club last summer.

He now boasts seven goals from seven attempts. Obviously his Liverpool career is far from over, but there is only one man in our history who has a one hundred percent record from the spot.

Step forward, Danny Murphy.

Yes – the Englishman only missed one penalty in his entire career, and it did not come at Anfield. While in the red shirt he scored eight out of eight.

Milner is second, and he is followed by John Aldridge (17 scored/1 missed – 94%), Jan Molby (42 scored/3 missed – 93%, and Willie Fagan (9 scored/1 missed – 90%) in the top five. (Echo)

Steven Gerrard (82% of his 57 penalties) and Robbie Fowler (77% of his 26 spot kicks) both just missed out on the top five.

Who is the second choice taker is Milner is not on the pitch? Would you give them to Hendo or someone like Coutinho or Firmino?
