Only nine squads in Europe cost more money than Liverpool’s but interestingly, four of them are English, a report by CIES Football Observatory has revealed…
The Echo reported the list today, which is shown in this GoalMad tweet:

Manchester United’s current roster is dearer than anyone else’s, including Real Madrid – who have both Cristiano Ronaldo and Gareth Bale in attack! The fact their team cost so much money and that Marouane Fellaini still regularly starts in central midfield makes us smile, in truth! They’re trying to buy the success they used to enjoy under Alex Ferguson, but as yet to no avail, unless you count Louis van Gaal’s FA Cup triumph.
It’s also interesting to see Arsenal in 8th at €381m, considering Arsene Wenger has long been regarded as stingy in the transfer market. His squad in fact cost more than Bayern Munich’s!
For Jurgen Klopp, the price of a player is irrelevant. He wants specific footballers to fit Liverpool’s mould tactically, stylistically and in terms of personality, too.
By the looks of it, after just one summer in charge, he’s forged a squad that can be competitive on all fronts domestically this term.
