Make no mistake – Daniel Sturridge is the most complete and natural striker at the club. He’s leaps and bounds ahead of the still-developing Divock Origi, and Ings has been injured for so long that he will not be displacing the England international any time soon.
But despite that, there are persistent rumours about his future. Is he a ‘Klopp’ player? Is he content with only being a squad member rather than the leading star?
It’s hard to know.
However, according to SkyBet, Arsenal are now the favourites to land his signature in January. They have been priced at 9/1 by the bookies, ahead of Spurs (12/1), Chelsea (14/1), West Ham (16/1) and Man City (25/1).
Pretty long odds, in fairness.
How much of this is down to the bookies wanting to make a quick buck, and how much is it based on fact and reality?
Surely there is absolutely no way we would sell him. For us, it’s a complete non-starter and one to be well and truly ignored. But it’s international break, so we guess the tabloids need to right about something.
