Injury update: Nathaniel Clyne expected to be fit for visit of Man Utd

Nathaniel Clyne should be for the visit of Jose Mourinho’s Man Utd squad.

The Reds welcome our rivals to Anfield on Monday 17th October – the first game after the players return from the international break.

Clyne pulled out of Gareth Southgate’s first England squad last week, citing a knee problem that had been giving him trouble for a few weeks.

Our medical staff believe the extended break should be enough time for him to make a full recovery (Echo).

Clyne has not missed a minute of Premier League football so far this season; he has played the full 90 minutes of all seven of our matches so far.

He also played both of the League Cup games against Derby County and Burton Albion, again completing a full 90 minutes in both outings.

Given we don’t really have a back-up right-back in the squad after Flanno was loaned to Burnley over the summer, the news will be a welcome boost to Klopp.
