Klavan delighted to be on the same side as Liverpool strikers

Who would want to go head-to-head with our attacking players this season?

There is a case to say they are the most dangerous front unit in the league after slamming home 18 goals in just seven games. It’s the joint highest total in the league with City – though we have played considerably tougher fixtures than them so far.

It’s a heady cocktail of speed, skill, and raw power – and most of the sides in the league are running scared.

One man who is thrilled that he does not have to play them ever week is our new centre-back, Ragnar Klavan.

Speak to the official site this week, he said he’s pretty pleased that he only has to go up against them in training sessions at Melwood.

“Of course [I would hate to play against them],” he said. “We have so much quality in front, but for me it is good to train against them every day – it helps my defending level.”

Klavan was a relative unknown when he put pen to paper on a move from Augsburg over the summer, but – Burnley excepted – he has been a monster in the back four. He even managed to get a goal of his own in our 3-0 win over Derby in the cup!
