Happy Birthday to legendary Liverpool goalkeeper, Bruce Grobbelaar

Happy Birthday, Bruce Grobbelaar!

Our legendary shot-stopper is 59 years old today.

59?! Where on earth did all that time go? Seems like only yesterday that he was giving Steve McManaman a slap for some shoddy defending!

Bruce was a Liverpool player from 1981 to 1994 – and was an ever-present for much of that time. He was eventually allowed to join Southampton on a free transfer.

He played 440 league games during his time at Anfield and walked away with a raft of honours and medals, including six league titles, three FA Cups, three League Cups, and one European Cup.

Despite being born in South Africa, Grobbelaar represented Zimbabwe at international level. He only won 32 caps for the country between making his debut in 1980 and his final appearance in 1998 – mainly due to the political tensions in the country at the time.

The club wished the veteran keeper Happy Birthday via the official Twitter account earlier today.
