Klopp gives his assessment of the current state of the Liverpool sqaud

After being in charge for a year and having worked through two transfer windows, there is now a feeling that this is much more like Klopp’s own side than when he took over 12 months ago.

Admittedly, his only real incoming business in January was to bring in Steven Caulker on loan, but he also used the opportunity to recall several players who were out on loan and assess what they might be able to give him going forward. Sheji Ojo and Kevin Stewart were the two biggest beneficiaries.

However, it was a different story over the summer.

Seven new players arrived as Grujic, Mane, Karius, Manninger, Wijnaldum, Matip, and Klavan all put pen to paper. And a huge new of players were either sold or loaned out. Fan favourites like Toure and Allen moved on, misfits such as Balotelli and Benteke were found new clubs, and promising youngsters were sent to the Championship.

After all that activity, here’s is what Klopp now thinks of his squad.

“I’m completely fine with my squad this year, I really like it. Good characters, good attitude and all the rest you have to develop. I saw a lot of things last season where I thought ‘ok, come on’. You cannot do more than try, you can buy a guarantee.” (Echo)
