Spaniard says he doesn’t regret turning down Liverpool for money

Suso is happy in Italy and doesn’t regret choosing to leave Liverpool a few years back, despite Jurgen Klopp’s arrival and our apparent revival.

The 22-year-old left in 2015 to join the Serie A giants, but failed to establish himself initially and had to spend last season on loan at Genoa.

This campaign though he’s returned to San Siro and has started all seven matches in the league so far, scoring one goal to boot.

Liverpool did offer Suso a contract extension, but it wasn’t for the money he wanted, so he chose to move on to pastures new.

“My arrival to Milan? I had 6-7 months left on my contract with Liverpool and I had to sign a new contract but the offer was not what I wanted. And while I was waiting, the possibility to come to Milan arrived,” Suso told Milan TV, reported by Squawka.

“I believe that when a club this important wants you then you can’t have doubts, it was the right choice.

“I’m fine here, I think that I’m not missing anything, maybe I’d like to have my family closer but they come to visit me and I’m fine with my girlfriend. Honestly, I don’t miss anything.”

There was once a time under Brendan Rodgers where Suso and Raheem Sterling started on our flanks either side of Luis Suarez, and it looked as though the teenagers would be the fulcrum of our attack for many a year. Both left though, predominantly due to them having an attitude not befitting Liverpool’s ethos.

We’re fine with that, and can wish them luck – happy with what Klopp currently has at his attacking disposal.
