Mignolet explains the one reason we’ll have an edge over Man Utd on Monday

Simon Mignolet has been talking to the press ahead of our game against Man Utd at Anfield on Monday night.

(As a brief aside, it’s certainly curious that the Belgian has been wheeled out to do so much media work this week – we think he’s odds-on favourite to start ahead of Karius against United).

In his comments ahead of the game, Migs has been talking about what one factor he thinks will prove decisive when we go head-to-head with our local rivals.

In a nutshell – it’s the new and improved Anfield.

The famous old ground saw its capacity jump from ~45,000 to ~55,000 over the summer, and the Belgian stopper thinks those extra fans will make all the difference.

“Ever since those 8,000 extra fans came here with the new stand, the support and the atmosphere in the stadium has been terrific. I’m sure when you play teams like Manchester United – who are a good team themselves – we need that extra support of the fans to give us that edge on them and we can do that all together, playing at home,” he said (Echo).

“It’s a massive game but we’re confident we can get the three points.”

Who would you play against Man Utd? Should the Belgian be reinstated to the starting XI, or would you keep the faith with summer signing Loris Karius?
