Joe Gomez returns to training and sparks off incredibly emotional scenes at Melwood

Joe Gomez is back in training.

It’s been a tough 12 months for the youngster. He damaged in ACL on England U19s duty just before Klopp took over the side last year and was out until the summer.

It was a massive blow – he’d kept Moreno out of the side at the start of last season and looked to have a bright future at Anfield.

It then looked like he might be slowly nearing a return to the first team squad when he was once again sidelined — this time with a diagnosed case of tendinopathy in his Achilles.

And after stepping onto the training pitch for the first time in 12 months yesterday, he was given an emotional round of applause by his team-mates (Echo).

The youngster, who was signed by Brendan Rodgers for £3.5million from Charlton Athletic in June 2015, can play both left-back and centre-back.

It’s thought Klopp sees him as a vital part of his long-term plans.
