Klopp lifts the lid on which player is the best challenger in the squad

Jurgen Klopp has been giving his thoughts on the events of last night’s 2-1 over Spurs in the League Cup fourth round.

We sprang into an early lead thanks to Daniel Sturridge’s goal inside ten minutes, and the same player made it 2-0 in the 64th minute. There was time for Spurs to score a late penalty after Lucas’ rash foul, but we held on to book our place in the quarter-final for the third successive season.

Klopp was full of praise for the senior players who stepped up to the mark and the younger players who were given their chance to shine in the first XI, but there was one player who really caught his eye.

That player was Kevin Stewart. Klopp waxed lyrical over his performance before going on the call the former Spurs player the best challenger in the squad.

Here’s what he said:

“He was very important.

“I have said a few times, he’s the best challenger in the squad.

“One-on-one he is really ugly to play against. He’s a good footballer, good player and he had a good game. Very good.” (Echo)
