Man Utd’s legendary former manager Alex Ferguson has shocked his former club’s fans around the country by claiming that Liverpool are one of the favourites for this season’s title.
While it’s not exactly a surprising assertion in one regard, the fact it comes from our biggest managerial nemesis and the long-time Liverpool basher is a big surprise. We couldn’t see King Kenny saying the same thing about the Old Trafford club if they were in our position!
“He has done a really good job and revived Liverpool’s enthusiasm,” he said.
“It can happen that big clubs lose it. For two decades, Liverpool changed managers without building their own identity.
“You can now well and truly sense that you have to count them in this year.
“You can see Klopp’s dedication on the sideline – I’m convinced his work in training is similar. He’s a strong personality. That’s absolutely vital at a big club.”
Ferguson made the comments to the German media, and they were picked up and translated by SkySports subsidary, TEAMTalk.
We currently sit in third place in the Premier League table, but we are level on points with leaders City and second place Arsenal.
We’ve won six of our first nine games, with the only loss coming away at Burnley on the second day of the season.
In stark contrast, Man Utd languish in seventh having only won one of their last six league games.
