Liverpool signing explains Klopp’s clever phone tactics that immediately convinced him to sign

Having Jurgen Klopp as our boss is undoubtedly a massive pull that helps Liverpool sign new players.

That much has been has clear since his arrival. The likes of Marko Grujic, Ragnar Klavan and Sadio Mane have expressed that the way our manager made them feel wanted immediately helped them make their decision – and now Loris Karius has joined suit…

Like with the others, Klopp’s phone-call was all it took for the young German keeper to leave Mainz and sign for us once a fee was agreed with his parent club.

“He is a big personality everyone listens to,” Karius told Sport Bild, cited in the Echo. “He briefly introduced himself on the phone, and then we had a long chat. I had a good feeling because he’s such pleasant guy.

“We talked about this and that, and I soon realised that we are talking the same language. It was immediately clear to me that I wanted to move to Liverpool.

“That’s the way he assembled our squad, with players who are all up for doing great things with Liverpool,” he finished.

You get the feeling that Klopp doesn’t pressurise players to join, but simply charms them into doing so!

It’s also important that the German judges a player’s character as much as his footballing ability, so his squad is aligned, together and unified.

Back in the summer, he claimed that he wouldn’t sign ‘arseholes’ (via Squawka), regardless of their talent!

Whatever his recruitment method is, it seems to be working so far… Sadio Mane has proved a revelation, Gini Wijnaldum important, Ragnar Klavan a bargain, Marko Grujic a real talent and Joel Matip a masterstroke…

In fact, it’s only Karius where real questions are still being asked – so we hope the stopper can begin to put an end to them – starting this weekend at Crystal Palace.
