Expected Liverpool XI v Crystal Palace: Milner doubt means switch-up

Posted by

Liverpool’s regular Premier League starting XI pretty much picks itself nowadays, bar the odd occasion when one or more of Jurgen Klopp’s favourites are unavailable.

Today, James Milner missed training sadly and although there’s been no indication from the club as to the extent of an actual problem – we’re predicting that if he’s absent on Friday he won’t be playing on Saturday…

This means Alberto Moreno should continue at left-back after a decent midweek performance in the EFL Cup.

In goal, Klopp has stated that Loris Karius is his no.1, while Nathaniel Clyne walks into the team at right-back. Joel Matip will partner Dejan Lovren in central defence, looking for only their second Premier League clean-sheet of the term.

Jordan Henderson will anchor the side, while we expect Gini Wijnaldum and Adam Lallana to start on each side. This means Emre Can will drop out, but Dutch signing Wijnaldum has been more consistent throughout the season.

Despite his brace against Spurs, Daniel Sturridge will make way for the feared offensive trio of Sadio Mane on the right, Coutinho on the left and Roberto Firmino up top.

Bar any doubts on Milner’s situation at left-back, we’re pretty sure this’ll be the side Klopp goes with.
