Liverpool set to award Brazilian second new contract in space of a year

Liverpool are considering offering Coutinho another new deal, to fend off interest from Barcelona, reports Spanish publication Sport.

We extended the Brazilian’s deal until 2020 last term, but so brilliant has his start to the campaign been, the club could do so again with an offer that will surely see him become the team’s highest paid player.

The report suggests Coutinho would be interested in a future move to Barcelona, but that’s something we don’t really want to think about and don’t have to until next summer at the earliest.

There’s no way we’d accept an offer worth anything less than a world-record fee for our no.10, who’s scored four goals and registered four assists so far in the Premier League.

Coutinho is settled in Liverpool and has a young family here, so it’s not like with Luis Suarez where the player was unhappy in England and desperate to move to Spain. Hopefully, we can achieve huge things with the playmaker, who’s thriving under Jurgen Klopp, and he’ll want to stay on Merseyside for a very long time.
