Joe Allen, Coutinho & Amrabat make Sky Sports Team of the Season so far; no place for Sadio Mane

Sky Sports pundit Charlie Nicholas has named his Premier League Team of the Season, including only one Liverpool player despite our excellent start to the campaign in which we sit joint top of the table with Arsenal and City.

The Gunners have two aces included: Mesut Ozil and Hector Bellerin, but there’s no room for Alexis Sanchez who’s probably been their best player. No Manchester City stars make the grade, harsh on Fernandinho and perhaps Kevin De Bruyne as well.

Nicholas has gone for Watford’s Amrabat and Southampton’s Nathan Redmond, but we personally reckon Adam Lallana and Sadio Mane have been better in the respective positions.

It’s also nice to see Joe Allen getting recognition. He was a fan favourite at Anfield but he’s hit the ground running at Stoke, scoring four goals already and continuing his excellent form from Euro 2016 with Wales. We can’t really take credit for Allen, but we’re happy he’s doing well – having been given the responsibility his talent deserves at the Britannia.
