Liverpool fans have taken delight in mocking Raymond Verheijen today, the monstrously irritating criticiser of Jurgen Klopp.
The Dutchman, a conditioning coach who’s worked with the Netherlands, South Korea, Russia and Wales, has spent much of the past year blaming all Liverpool’s injuries on Klopp’s lack of knowledge of periodisation – a training method he preaches religiously.
Every time a Liverpool player picks up an injury, Verheijen, known for the fact he still hasn’t got a display picture on Twitter, makes derogatory comments about Klopp.
A few months ago, Verheijen decided to compare Klopp to Inter’s new manager Ronald De Boer, who previously said Klopp made a mistake in his training of the players when he first joined Liverpool (via Echo).
New Inter coach Frank de Boer has shown the way forward in football.
Question the mistakes of top coaches, learn from it & apply it yourself— Raymond Verheijen (@raymondverheije) August 17, 2016
Today though, De Boer was sacked, while Klopp’s Liverpool sit at the top of the Premier League table with mega-spenders Arsenal and Manchester City…
Glorious!
Here’s some of the best tweets from Reds, who couldn’t help but rub it in.
Shame about Frank de Boer. But on the bright side, he’ll be really well-rested. Periodisation triumphs again.

@raymondverheije How’s that going for him Ray? You must be so proud! Seems his ‘periodisation’ in charge of Inter has ended.

@raymondverheije Give it a rest Raymond, people are laughing at you.

@Fydsy @raymondverheije maybe is time for Ray to take over Inter and show the world how things should be done? Can’t wait
