Danny Ings just can’t seem to catch a break at Liverpool.
It has been announced today that the striker will require surgery on his knee after he picked up an injury whilst making a challenge in the latter stages of Liverpool’s EFL Cup tie with Tottenham Hotspur last week.
Ings will undergo the operation in London today and is likely to be out for between six and nine months, meaning his season has sadly ended.
We are absolutely devastated for him and wish him both a smooth and quick recovery.
It comes as a worry that it is not the same knee that Ings suffered an anterior cruciate ligament injury to in October 2015.
The striker has worked so hard to recover from last year’s set back and has performed admirably for the U23s in order to fight his way back into the first team.
Fans have taken to Twitter to show their sympathy for the 24-year-old.
