Liverpool’s chances of progression in the Premier League International Cup look slim following a home draw last night against Porto, but there’s certainly some positives for manager Michael Beale to take.

The likes of Mamadou Sakho and Marko Grujic played, but young American Brooks Lennon stole the headlines with a classy 66th minute equaliser. Ben Woodburn broke a tackle before assisting the forward, who cut in on his right and curled into the top corner.

Liverpool lost to Wolfsburg in their first group game and need to beat Leicester and hope for other results to go their way to now go through, but to outplay Porto B with Trent Alexander-Arnold, Ovie Ejaria, Kevin Stewart and Pedro Chirivella all not used (because Jurgen Klopp has kept them with the first-team) is encouraging.

Lennon has recently turned 19, so we wouldn’t be surprised if he was sent on loan soon to test his mettle down the leagues.
