Premier League side keen to land out of favour Liverpool defender in January transfer window

It is difficult to decide whether it would be an escape route for Mamadou Sakho or Liverpool as a club, if West Brom follow through with their interest and sign the French defender in January.

The previously sour situation has calmed over the past few months, but it looks fairly certain that Sakho’s Anfield career is over.

He has not played for us since April and has so far spent this season working with Michael Beale’s U23s team.

News of West Brom’s reported interest was announced on the Liverpool Echo website by Neil Jones.

The 26-year-old turned down a move away from the club in the summer window, despite Klopp making it clear that he would be nowhere near the first team this season.

Our manager has stood by his word and nothing has changed.

Sakho has failed to prove himself following the controversy. He was eventually cleared of a failed drugs test, before being sent home from Liverpool’s pre-season tour of America and taking to social media to suggest lies were being told with regards to him not being with the team.

There appears to be no way back for him now, with Klopp more than satisfied with his squad of players and clearly happy to see the former Paris Saint-Germain man move on elsewhere.

West Brom are contemplating a loan move for the defender when the market opens in January.

It seems his departure is the best thing for everyone, now.
