The Senegalese just got on the end of Roberto Firmino’s delicate sideways pass, after Jordan Henderson sent the Brazilian through – right?
Almost! It turns out Mane actually played a much bigger role in the buildup than we realised, dummying Henderson’s pass to Firmino and then turning around to get into the box. Why this wasn’t on any of the coverage at the time, we’re not sure!

Mane’s brace made it six for the season, making him our top scorer in the Premier League. For us, he’s Liverpool’s best signing since Coutinho in 2013.
