Due to his jaw-dropping start to life on Merseyside, Sadio Mane can just about get away with this.
Our flying winger gave an interview recently for the Premier League and was asked to name his hero. The 24-year-old then spent 30 seconds waxing lyrical about El Hadji Diouf – probably the most odious individual to represent us in the Premier League era!
If it was an interview for Liverpool, you’d have hoped the club might have pointed him elsewhere, but Mane, clearly not fully aware of Liverpool’s relationship with Diouf, chose his countryman – the first no.9 in our history to go an entire season without scoring.
It was more the fact he spat in a Celtic fan’s face, consistently made outrageously disrespectful comments about Steven Gerrard and everything else in between that put us off Diouf though.
In a few months, Mane has already achieved tenfold more than Diouf did and he’s held himself with far more distinction too.
Set your sights a little higher, Sadio!
