Jordan Henderson has become the first player to have made 1000 passes in the Premier League this season.

Statistics, as presented on premierleague.com, recognise the Liverpool captain as the leading passer so far, having increased his total to 1,001 following yesterday’s 0-0 draw against Southampton.

The nearest Liverpool player to Henderson in terms of passes made is Philippe Coutinho, who has made 641 passes so far this campaign.

Henderson’s dominance over his teammates in this area highlights his role and the extent of his contributions to Jurgen Klopp’s side.

He has been crucial in dictating the speed at which we have played this season, using his time on the ball to slow things down and also to increase the transition from defence to attack as and when he likes.

The Premier League’s leading passer has been a prominent figure under Klopp and is thriving in his role in a midfield trio.
