Liverpool’s greatest midfielder. Liverpool’s greatest captain. A club legend, an idol to children and even an idol to adults. Steven Gerrard ticks every box.
The day was creeping up on us and we all knew it, we just chose not to pay attention to it.
Gerrard’s retirement from football is the news fans were dreading, but news that gives us all the opportunity to praise him and to show our love for him to our heart’s content.
He was a genius, the complete midfielder and a man that will forever have a place at this club.
For those attempting to decide on Gerrard’s ‘top five moments’, good luck. The list of his memorable and standout moments in a Liverpool shirt, is endless.
We might never see a player like him grace Anfield, again. That isn’t a problem, though. It’s what makes him special and what makes us so lucky to have had him at this club. He is unique and finding someone capable of becoming the ‘next Steven Gerrard’ is verging on the impossible.
