Suarez’s 25-year-old team-mate speaks up future Liverpool transfer

Fiorentina midfielder Matias Vecino has ambitions of following in the footsteps of his international team-mate Luis Suarez and one day signing for Liverpool.

Although he’s not actually that fussy, and would move to Chelsea as well!

The 25-year-old currently plies his trade in Serie A, where he starts in holding midfield for La Viola.

He told Italian newspaper Corriere dello Sport, cited in the Express: “I think I like to do things the right way.

“My dream has always been to play in England, but I don’t know whether I will be here until I am 30 or 35.

“I always liked Liverpool and I would like to follow [Marcos] Alonso and many other team-mates of my national team.

“It doesn’t mean I will be going to England tomorrow.”

Vecino only broke into the Uruguay team in 2016, but has already won six caps for the South Americans, who are of course spearheaded by our world-class former striker, now at Barcelona.

Perhaps it’s Suarez’s stories that’s got Vecino so inclined to move to Merseyside, but despite his height and strength, it’s not something that will happen soon.

He’s a physically adept player, but with Jordan Henderson performing so sensationally in the deep-lying midfielder role, and the likes of Emre Can and Lucas capable of backing him up – it’s not a position we need to fix.

Vecino’s best bet is to keep performing well in Italy and hope to grab the attention of an English club that way!
