Goodison Park reception is ‘brilliant’ according to former Red

Don’t worry, it’s not what you think.

A former Liverpool player wouldn’t dare praise Everton fans and thankfully Patrik Berger has stuck to that.

Berger has managed to put a positive spin on the Goodison Park atmosphere by describing the impact it can have on Jurgen Klopp’s men come Monday night’s Merseyside derby.

He told Liverpoolfc.com: “It’s hard but it’s brilliant – that’s what it’s all about.”

“In a way it’s horrible but in another way it gives you a lift and the drive to want to win the game more than ever.”

“It’s the biggest game of the season for the fans and also for the players. It’s a special occasion and everybody is looking forward to it.”

We can see where he’s coming from.

Having said this, the players shouldn’t really need any more motivation heading into a game of this magnitude.

This is arguably the biggest game of the season so the players giving anything besides their very best won’t be acceptable.

Monday is crucial and we would expect nothing less than the Everton fans doing what they can to try and put Liverpool off their game.

Turning the backlash from the home crowd into determination and a will to fight takes a mentally strong player but we are confident we have the team and certainly the manager with the mindset capable of doing so.

Fight to shut that Everton crowd up, Reds.
