We bet Daniel Sturridge is itching for a start in Liverpool’s December 27th fixture with Stoke City…
He hasn’t started in the Premier League since our 0-0 draw with Manchester United mid-October. That’s more than two months, partly due to injury and partly due to Jurgen Klopp’s preference to deploy Roberto Firmino centrally when everyone’s available.
In fact, he’s not scored a Premier League goal this season, unthinkable for one of the division’s most talented strikers.
He’s fully fit now though and came off the bench on Monday to make a match-winning contribution in the Merseyside Derby, firing onto the post for Sadio Mane to tap home.
Here he is in training today, finishing sublimely with a left-footed chip. There’s nobody else at the club who has such outrageous finishing ability – not by a very long distance.
Will Klopp go with Sturridge centrally against Stoke, or stick with Origi…? We’d take a punt on the Englishman.
