Klopp: “If I could shoot like Coutinho I’d get up and shoot the f***ing ball around the garden”

Jurgen Klopp is as blunt as he is brilliant!

And this description of Coutinho from Liverpool’s manager is both…

The manager was discussing Coutinho’s ability to strike the ball; how he understands why the Brazilian often appears to try often in tight games – such is his ability to find the top corner with his instep.

“We had a few talks about it. Of course with Phil’s skills, everyone wants to give him the ball and wait for something special to happen,” Klopp told James Pearce in a long, interesting interview for the Echo.

“Then you think ‘oh no, don’t shoot again’. But if I could shoot like he could shoot then I would try it all the time.

“I’d get up in the morning and just shoot the ****ing ball around in the garden or something. It’s outstanding how good he is.”

Before his cruel injury, Coutinho was on six goals for the season, but he hasn’t played since the end of November, when he was stretchered off at Anfield in floods of tears following a tough tackle. He’s back training though and should return to the field early January.

For Klopp, it couldn’t come at a better time, as Sadio Mane has been called up Senegal for the AFCON, meaning he could potentially miss the entire month depending on his country’s success during the tournament.

Klopp has improved Coutinho greatly, but our no.10 has the ability to lead our team offensively for many a season. We hope the relationship continues to flourish once O Magico returns to action.
