‘It’s not about being the best’- Sadio Mane predicting hard fought but exciting Manchester City clash

The word on the street is that it will be goals galore when Anfield plays stage to this evening’s highly anticipated contest between Liverpool and Manchester City.

Reds forward Sadio Mane is expecting plenty of action as two extremely talented attacking sides and two of the best managers in world football come up against each other.

Concerns over both sides defensively have been well publicised since the beginning of the season but it seems that all eyes will be on who can score the most in tonight’s match-up.

Mane says a win is all that matters, no matter how it comes.

He told the Mirror: “It will be a very good game because we are two open teams and everyone will be excited to play this game. Maybe we have the best strikers, I can’t say. But it’s not about being the best, it’s about trying to score as many as we can.”

“The most important thing is the three points. Of course it would push us a step towards the title if we won but not just because it is against City – we have to try and win every game.”

“We know we can beat every team in the league and so we are only focusing on ourselves.”

The phrase ‘a win is a win’ isn’t so easily applied when two managers such as Jurgen Klopp and Pep Guardiola come face to face. Both will want to see their team perform well and both will want to see an entertaining and attacking game of football.

There will be goals and there will be drama but we are confident we have the fire power to punish City’s defensive frailties.

Let’s end the year on a high, Reds.
