Two clubs now left battling for Liverpool’s frozen out 26-year-old

It appears that Mamadou Sakho will stay in the Premier League this month, with Southampton and Swansea the two favourites for his signature.

According to BBC Sport, we won’t sell for less than £20m and are not interested in a loan deal – keen to offload the obsolete Frenchman permanently and make a profit in the process.

Sakho was a key player for us last year, but failed a (later disproved) drug test in March, was sent home from the summer tour due to poor discipline and went on a late-night Snap Chat rant early this campaign – meaning Jurgen Klopp hasn’t selected him in a single match-day squad this term.

Southampton want the 26-year-old, with their skipper Jose Fonte expected to join Manchester United, but according to the Echo, Swansea are also keen.

Sakho’s accepted he has no future under Klopp and providing clubs meet our asking price, the player will be allowed to freely choose his next destination, having been stuck playing Under-23 football for us all season.
