10-goal, 8-assist wing-forward ‘glad a big team like Liverpool’ wants to sign him; enquiry submitted

Last week, it was reported by owngoalnigeria that Liverpool were one of a number of teams monitoring Eupen’s young attacker Henry Onyekeru.

The 19-year-old plays for the Belgian minnows and has shone this season, scoring ten goals and assisting eight more to date.

Their article claimed that we’d told Eupen we want the teenage African and that a last minute deal could be done this January.

According to AnfieldHQ, the forward said: “My agency informed me Liverpool have shown interest. I am glad a big team like Liverpool too have showed interest in me.”

Onyekeru can either play as a centre-forward or on the right, and is known for his pace and agility. Liverpool have badly missed Sadio Mane while the Senegalese has been absent at the AFCON, and it’s players with these speedy, offensive attributes the squad badly needs – especially out wide.

The attacker is a big prospect, but it’s a huge step up from the Belgian division to the Premier League and Onyekuru wouldn’t be someone who’d immediately come in to first-team consideration, not that we think a deal will be done before the window closes this evening.

Perhaps if he continues to impress, this will be one we’ll pick up again in the summer.
